Compares text only, not layout, images or fonts. Scanned PDFs need OCR first.

Options

Choose the original and revised PDFs, then press Compare PDFs.

How to compare two PDFs

  1. Choose the earlier version as the Original PDF and the newer one as the Revised PDF.
  2. Press Compare PDFs. Text is extracted page by page and pages are aligned automatically.
  3. The summary shows which pages changed, were added or removed; below, red − lines are from the original, green + lines from the revision, and ⟦ ⟧ marks the exact changes.
  4. Download the .diff file if you need a record.

Notes

  • Only text is compared — not images, table lines, fonts or layout.
  • Scanned PDFs have no text layer; run OCR first.
  • To compare plain text, use Text Compare (Diff Checker).

FAQ

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. Text extraction and comparison run entirely in your browser; your files never leave your device.

Does it compare layout, images or formatting?

No. It compares the text in the PDFs only. Changes to fonts, colors, images or positions are not shown.

Why does my scanned PDF have no text?

A scanned PDF is just images, with no text layer to extract. Run OCR (text recognition) on it first, then compare.

What if pages were inserted or removed?

Pages are aligned by content: identical pages are matched, similar pages are treated as edited versions, and the rest are reported as added or removed pages.

Why is "ignore whitespace" on by default?

PDF text is often split into pieces with extra or missing spaces because of layout. Ignoring whitespace avoids meaningless differences; turn it off for a strict comparison.
