How to use

  1. Choose or drop a PDF file. The tool lists the document properties and XMP metadata it finds.
  2. Review them and press “Remove metadata”.
  3. When you see “Verified”, download the clean PDF.

Why remove metadata?

PDFs often record the author’s name, company, the software and version used, creation and edit times, and sometimes old titles. Cleaning them before you send a contract, CV or quote keeps internal details from leaking by accident.

Files you choose and text you enter are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded to our servers and we do not store them. Some tools download the code or data they need (such as OCR language data) from this site the first time you use them.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Reading, cleaning and building the new file all happen in your browser. The file never leaves your device.

What exactly is removed?

Every field of the document information dictionary (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, creation and modification dates, custom fields), XMP metadata attached to the document, pages, images or fonts, and private editing data (PieceInfo) left by apps such as Illustrator. Old revisions from incremental saves and unreferenced objects are not written to the new file either.

Does the page content change?

No. Text, images, fonts, bookmarks, links and forms stay as they are, and images are not re-compressed. The file is rewritten, so its size may change slightly.

How do I know it worked?

After cleaning, the tool reads the new file back and only offers the download when no Info dictionary, XMP metadata or private editing data is left. You can also check "Document Properties" in Acrobat or another reader.

Is EXIF data inside images (camera time, GPS) removed?

No. EXIF embedded in image data is part of the image itself and is not changed. If that matters, run the images through Image Compressor & Format Converter first, then make the PDF.

Can I clean a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF. Files up to 200 MB are supported.
